Eric Tinkler will not underestimate his former employers when SuperSport United play host to Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership clash at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
Victory will move Matsatsantsa level on points with the Citizens despite the Tshwane club having played five games less than their employers.
Benni McCarthy's troops will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways following a 4-2 defeat to Maritzburg United in midweek.
City will also be aiming to exact revenge on SuperSport having lost to their opponents in the final of the MTN8 earlier this season.
HECTOR CUPER REFLECTS ON THE WORLD CUP DRAW
"Cape Town City already have started the league very well – they’re up there. It’s going to be a tough game, and they’ll be motivated because it’s SuperSport United,” Tinkler told KickOff.com.
“What we have achieved this season and last season, we are a team to beat, so we can’t underestimate them at all. They have had certain good results and bad results but so did I, when I was there.
“I also had a few good results and bad results. I got hit by Platinum Stars four [4-0], but they [City] have players that have the ability to turn that around. We can’t underestimate them, it will be a tough game," he concluded.
