Mexico want to play Egypt in pre-World Cup friendly

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has received a proposal to face Mexico in an international friendly in March, 2018.

Nicknamed the Pharaohs, Egypt are set to participate in the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals and they have been drawn in Group A which features the hosts Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.

EFA president Hany Abou-Rida confirmed that they are close to finding a deal regarding Egypt’s friendly against Mexico.

“We received an offer from the Mexican Football Federation to play a friendly next March and we are close to finalising the deal,” Abou-Rida told Al Ahram newspaper.

“We also have more offers to play friendly games and we will chose the best after negotiations with the technical manager.”

The Egyptian national team director Ehab Leheta added that the Pharaohs’ friendlies are expected to be held abroad.

“Egypt’s friendly games will be played in Europe, not in Cairo,” he added.

“Egypt national team coach Hector Cuper asked to play two friendly games next March with a big European teams.”
