The Egyptian international has taken the English Premier League (EPL) by storm and he is the leading scorer in the competition with 13 goals after netting the opener for Liverpool FC in the Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday.
Salah beat two Everton defenders before curling an unstoppable shot past Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. England veteran Wayne Rooney snatched a late equalizer for Everton as the two sides drew 1-1.
Former Liverpool captain and coach Souness saw something which surprised him the most about Salah before game. The retired midfielder was impressed with the size of Salah’s calves during the pre-match warm up.
“It was a super goal. They had all the possession, they played in Everton’s half,” the Scottish legend said of the goal on Sky Sports.
“They weren’t making the goalkeeper make saves but the goal was certainly worth waiting for. He had just too much strength. He surprises me, I saw him warm up before the game and he had his socks down, his calves are enormous.
“He’s a powerful little man, maybe not so little. "He just runs through (Michael) Keane and the technique is super. The goalie’s got no chance. This bit here, this is real strength.”
Salah, who joined Liverpool from Italian Serie A giants AS Roma prior to the start of the current season, has now scored 19 goals for the
Reds in all competitions.
