Burundi failed to claim a win as they drew 0-0 against South Sundan in their final Group B encounter of the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge on Monday at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
The stalemate means the the Burundians are through to the semifinals of the regional tournament and will meet Zanzibar.
Ahead of this match, the Les Hirondelles were looking for a win for them to have seven points on the log table, but will now have five points from three matches.
With both sides failing to score in the opening half, it was 0-0 at the interval.
However, the Bright Stars dominated the opening stages of the second half as they probed for a goal, but were not decisive in the final third.
The end of the second stanza failed to produce goals as Burundi walked a way with a vital point to reach the last four and South Sudan will exit this year's edition.
In the wake of this draw, the Bright Stars end their campaign with no single win after losses to Ethiopia and Uganda.
On the other hand, Burundi will now meet Zanzibar who are Group A winners on Thursday, December 14.
