Liverpool legend Danny Murphy has singled out Senegal’s Idrissa Gueye for a superb performance in Everton’s 1-1 draw at Anfield in the Merseyside derby.
The Teranga Lions midfielder put in a tireless display to help the Toffees fight back from a goal down to claim a share of the spoils on Liverpool’s home ground on Sunday.
While analysing his performance, former Liverpool midfielder Murphy said: “It was the best game I have seen him have this season. He was great last season.
“He epitomised everything Everton were about today. I'm talking about running back, making tackles, putting your body on the line.
“Even in parts of the game when they looked like they could be steamrollered three or four, he was in there helping out the young lads at the back.”
Gueye will look to inspire Everton to another strong away performance when they travel to Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
