The China-based forward has reflected on Cameroon’s disappointing 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Cameroon, who are the reigning African champions, were expected to do well during the campaign and ultimately, reach the finals which will be hosted by Russia.
However, the Indomitable Lions recorded one win, four draws and one defeat in their qualifying group and they failed to book their place in Russia.
Bassogog, 22, was hoping to help his nation qualify after inspiring Cameroon to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in Gabon.
“I regret that Cameroon did not qualified,” Bassogog told Camfoot.
“All players in the world dream of playing in the World Cup.
“And it is a regrettable that Cameroon as a champion of Africa, has not qualified.”
The Henan Jianye forward made four appearances during Cameroon’s qualifying campaign without scoring a single goal.
Cameroon are set to host the 2019 AFCON tournament and the Indomitable Lions will be hoping to defend their title on home soil.
