Egyptian Premier League giants Al Ahly have agreed to play an international friendly against Spanish giants Atletico Madrid later this month.
The Cairo giants will play Madrid at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium on December 30 under the slogan "Peace against Terrorism".
With the match, Ahly are seeking to stress the role of sports institutions in supporting the country while it faces various challenges.
This comes after Egypt's security forces have been fighting an Islamist insurgency group based in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula.
The group has gained pace since the 2013 ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.
With the last major attack having taken place in Arish last month, killing over 300 worshippers during Friday’s prayers, the club has decided to act.
Meanwhile, Ahly announced that the La Liga side would come to Egypt with their full squad and will make their second visit.
The Rojiblancos visited the North African country in November 2011 when they beat Zamalek 4-1 in a friendly as part of the latter club's centennial celebrations.
