Ghanaian striker Richmond Boakye has emerged as a potential January transfer target for Newcastle United.
The 24-year-old has scored 14 goals in 13 league appearances for Red Star Belgrade this season and is attracting interest from around Europe.
According to ESPN, the Magpies are keen on signing the Ghana attacker in the upcoming January transfer window.
Manager Rafael Benitez has identified a lack of firepower upfront as his team’s major shortcoming, as they battle against the prospect of being relegated from the Premier League.
However, Newcastle could face a bidding war over Boakye, with West Bromwich Albion also linked to the striker.
Boakye’s European career has seen him play in Italy, Spain and the Netherlands before joining Serbian giants Red Star earlier this year.
