Algerian left-back Faouzi Ghoulam has expressed his happiness at having penned a new contract with Italian giants Napoli.
The 26-year-old, who is currently recovering from a serious knee injury, signed a new deal just over a week ago which will see him remain at Stadio San Paolo to 2022.
This ended major speculation over his future, as the Algerian’s old contract was set to expire at the end of the season, making him a major transfer target for several European heavyweights, including the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.
"Not playing for a long time is never easy, it's difficult for me to stay out but it's moments that can happen in our career and make me grow mentally,” said Ghoulam in regards to his injury.
"I feel very well and I'm very, very happy with the renewal.
"I'm tied up in Naples and I'm proud to be able to represent the fans and the people of Naples for years."
