Uganda and Lesotho will battle for a place in the final of the 2017 U-20 Cosafa Cup when they meet at Nkana Stadium on Thursday afternoon, kick-off at 16h00 CAT.
Uganda, a guest side from the East African region, have already made a major impact by topping Group A ahead of Malawi, hosts and defending champions Zambia, as well as Swaziland.
The young Cranes secured top spot in the pool on goal difference ahead of their Malawian counterparts, having held them to a 1-1 draw in their last outing on Monday afternoon.
Lesotho topped Group C by an even slimmer margin: they finished level with Zimbabwe on five points and both team had the same goal difference (plus one). However, the young Likuena had scored a goal more and therefore secured first place.
Poor Zimbabwe weren’t even awarded the best runners-up position in the semifinals: that went to Egypt, who claimed six points from Group B despite losing the pool decider to South Africa on Monday.
The winners of this match will progress to the final and face either the North Africans or South Africa, who will meet again in the first semifinal earlier on Thursday.
