South Africa U-20 coach Thabo Senong says he is looking forward to the rematch with Egypt in today’s Cosafa Cup semifinal.
Amajita beat the young Pharaohs 2-1 in a Group B decider on Monday, but after the North Africans finished as the best runners-up the teams were paired together again for the final four.
Senong is confident that his side can overcome Egypt and advance into Saturday’s final to face either Lesotho or Uganda, who will contest the second semi.
“We’ll obviously be playing Egypt again in the semifinals and we’re looking forward to the match,” said Senong.
“As we are fully aware as a team, knockout stages are a different match. Obviously the mental demands will be different but we are looking forward to this encounter.
“Like we said from the start, we came here to develop, to learn and give our players an opportunity to play against good teams from around the continent.
“This is the best opportunity. We will plan as a technical team and we’ll make sure we do everything to win this match, because it’s important to also go to the final.
“We have the talent, we believe in our boys and our team understands now how we want to play, and yes, we are very proud of the boys thus far, we believe they can do the job.”
The match will kick-off at 13h00 CAT at the Nkana Stadium.
