South Africa U-20 coach Thabo Senong has shrugged off the absence of two key players for his side’s Cosafa Cup semifinal with Egypt.

Amajita will face the young Pharaohs for the second time in the space of three days, having beaten them 2-1 in a Group B decider on Monday. The teams were paired together for the final four after Egypt finished as the best runner-up from the three groups.

Yet South Africa will be without two key players, defender Thendo Mukumela and goalkeeper Khulekani Kubheka. Both featured in all three group matches but have picked up suspensions.

“Obviously two players are suspended: Thendo Mukumela, the captain, and the ‘keeper Khulekani Kubheka,” said Senong.

“But we don’t see challenges, we always see opportunities, because this is another opportunity for two players to come in and get a chance to represent Amajita.

“So, we don’t have any challenges with regards to the suspensions because we trust in the 20 players that we brought here.”

The match will kick-off at 13h00 CAT at the Nkana Stadium.
