As they want to finish 2017 on a high, Platinum Stars skipper Vuyo Mere says they have to fight harder and beat Bidvest Wits.

Dikwena will visit the Clever Boys in the Absa Premiership on Saturday night and Mere says their mission is to move away from the relegation zone.

Although he acknowledges it will be a tough encounter, the versatile player has urged his teammates to go to the clash with confidence.

“It’s a six pointer. I think both teams need the points but I think we need to do that ourselves. We need these points,” said the skipper.

“We can’t expect other teams to be doing us favours. It’s going to be a very difficult game. We know what Wits is capable of.

“We have to go there confident of getting a win though. Wits have quality squad and quality coach. We are also getting to do well.

“We are looking forward to getting out of the relegation zone.

“We all know that we didn’t get the start we wanted as a team. We are happy that the boys have their confidence back. We are progressing at a very slow pace.”

Stars are placed at the 15th spot with 12 points whilst the league champions sit at the 16th spot with 11 points.

The encounter will be staged at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday night, kick-off is at 20:15 CAT.
