Player Spotlight: Cedric Bakambu - Congolese striker prefers Messi over Ronaldo

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) international is enjoying his best season in the Spanish La Liga having won the league’s Player of the Month for October.

Bakambu beat FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and Valencia forward Simone Zaza to the accolade after scoring six goals in the league during the month of October.

The Villarreal striker was recently asked who prefers between Argentina captain Messi over Portugal and Real Madrid star forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi and Ronaldo have dominated global player awards since 2007 and they are widely regarded as the two best footballers in world football.
“I always had a preference for Messi.

“Even though I respect Ronaldo tremendously,”. Bakambu said on France Football.

“Often, when you say that you love Messi, people think you do not like Ronaldo.

“But it's the opposite. I am grateful for these two outstanding players.”

Bakambu remains amongst the top scorers in La Liga having scored nine goals. Messi is the top scorer with 14 goals, while Ronaldo has four goals to his name.
