Nkwazi FC striker Lameck Banda was voted as the 2017 MTN/FAZ Super League Young Player of the Year for this season.
In an event held on Friday, Banda beat off competition from City of Lusaka captain Edward Tembo and Mighty Mufurila Wanderers winger Chris Sakulanda.
After receiving the accolade, the forward said he was expecting to win the award and expressed delight.
“I had no doubt I would win this award looking at my performances in the just-ended season,” he said.
”I am very happy to win this award especially that it’s my first but I won’t stop here, I will keep working hard.”
The Under-20 Zambian national team striker was part of the side that won the COSAFA U-17 youth Championships in Mauritius, netting five times.
He recently represented Zambia in the 2017 Mopani Copper Mines COSAFA U-20 Championship, but failed to find the net as Zambia crushed out in the first round.
