SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler has called into question the commitment and determination of his players following a lean run of results.
The CAF Confederation Cup runners-up have gone four league matches without a win and suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat to Baroka FC this past weekend.
Ahead of their final match of 2017, which sees them take on Bloemfontein Celtic tomorrow evening, Tinkler has been mulling over his side’s recent slump.
“It doesn’t come easy and I will tell you why; because there is no big difference with the quality of players in other teams,” Tinkler is quoted by Kick-Off.
“Your application has to be entirely good, your desire has to be very good. The fact that we are a team that has been very successful of late, we are a team to beat and everybody comes highly motivated against us.
“And if we don't match them for the same desire and the same passion and the same determination, then you are going to come unstuck - that is the harsh reality in this league.”
Tinkler continued: “That's why you see Wits at the bottom of the league when they were league winners last season.
“The desire and passion needs to be there because nothing has changed. We are doing what we were doing when we were successful in the MTN8 and the CAF Confederation Cup going as far as we did.
“We’ve not changed anything. So you obviously question the commitment and the desire. The determination, is it there? That's the question I raise right now.”
