The Cameroon international missed the Indomitable Lions’ final 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match last month due to injury.

Cameroon went into their game against Zambia having already failed to qualify for the finals and the two sides drew 2-2 in Ndola.

Bassogog, who plays for Henan Jianye, is currently nursing his knee injury ahead of the 2018 Chinese Super League.

The 22-year-old admitted that he will have to improve following Cameroon’s disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign.
“I think that every player needs to question himself at some point,” Bassogog told Camfoot.

The attacker inspired his nation to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in Gabon and he will be looking to help the Indomitable Lions defend their trophy on home soil in 2019.
“There are many people who are expecting a lot from me, Cameroon too,” he continued.

“And I would like to tell them that next year I will come back stronger.”

Bassogog has scored twice in 17 matches for Cameroon since making his debut in 2016.
