Former England and Arsenal striker believes Liverpool’s Sadio Mane is jealous of club teammate Mohamed Salah.

Wright said the Senegalese international is uneasy with the Egyptian’s progress for the Reds, as he netted 20 goals in all competitions.

This comes after Mane was benched in Liverpool’s 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth last Sunday, with goals from Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Dejan Lovren, and Salah enough to carry Liverpool into fourth place.

“Do you think there is a bit of jealous there? With Mo Salah?” Wright asked on BBC 5 Live.

“He just looks a little bit perturbed by it.

“Mo Salah has come in and – remember when Mané went to the Africa Cup of Nations and everyone was like ‘oh it’s over now, we can’t replace Mané'.

“And now they’ve got Salah and he’s been on the bench.”

However, both players have been nominated for the CAF African Player of the Year Award and the event will be held in Ghana in January 04.

The two players are expected to travel to Ghana together for the awards ceremony, leaving a big question mark on their ability to play against Everton in the FA Cup the next day.
