PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Thomas Partey - Ghanaian to cap breakthrough year in style

Thomas Partey will be eager to cap what has been a breakthrough year for the midfielder in style when Atlético Madrid are away to Espanyol in the final round of La Liga fixtures for 2017.

The 24-year-old has racked up 23 appearances - finding the back of the net on four occasions - for Atleti this season.

The Ghana international has featured in all but one match for the Spanish club this campaign. He has performed adequately in several roles, holding his own both in midfield and at right-back.

Partey also scored a hat-trick for the Black Stars in a 5-1 thumping of Congo Brazzaville back in September as he proved his worth for both his club side and the national team.

If he plays on Friday evening, Partey will match his appearance total for last season - further underling the progress he has made under head coach Diego Simeone.
