Ghanaian attacker Andre Ayew has praised West Ham United’s fans following their 1-0 midweek loss to Arsenal in the League Cup.
Ayew returned to the Hammers’ starting XI for the quarterfinal clash against the Gunners on Tuesday night, but they succumbed 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
Despite the defeat, West Ham fans were vocal throughout the match and Ayew has taken time to express his appreciation for their support.
“The fans were unbelievable and they never stopped singing throughout the game,” he said in the wake of the match.
“I have friends who texted me and were telling me what the fans kept on doing and for me that was special.”
Ayew will hope to retain his starting place when West Ham host Newcastle United in a Premier League clash on Saturday.
