Algeria and Rwanda will meet in a 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) warm-up match in Tunis on January 10.

Rwanda, who will be camping in Tunisia ahead of the tournament kick-off in Morocco on January 13, have been contacted by their Algerian counterparts.

The Fennec Foxes, under new coach Rabah Madjer, have just completed a training camp for locally-based players, which was set to serve as preparation for a friendly in Dubai against the UAE this weekend.

That proposed match has been cancelled, but Algeria are still keen to put an ‘A’ team on display and take on Rwanda as Madjer looks to expand his player base.

The recently-completed training camp for locally-based players has given several candidates hope that they will break into the full Fennec Foxes set-up.

"The camp went well,” CS Constantine striker Mohamed-Amine Abid is quoted by Le Buteur.

“The working conditions were perfect and the atmosphere was excellent.

“Inshallah, we will continue on this path. We know that Madjer relies a lot on local players and that boosts us obviously.

“It will encourage us to surpass ourselves to be always summoned in the future."
