Former Ballon d'Or winner George Weah has been elected as the new president of Liberia.
The former AC Milan, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain forward, who was one of the world's most prolific strikers during the 90's, will become the next president of the African nation.
Weah, 51, entered politics after his retirement and has been serving as a senator in Liberia's parliament over the past few years.
He will take over the reins from Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who became the first elected female head of state in Africa over a decade ago.

"My fellow Liberians, I deeply feel the emotion of all the nation. I measure the importance and the responsibility of the immense task which I embrace today. Change is on," Weah tweeted after his victory was officially confirmed.
