Premier League strugglers Swansea City are hoping to sign Senegal striker Diafra Sakho from rivals West Ham United, according to The Mirror.

The 28-year-old has been looking for a way out of the London Stadium since the end of last season.

The Teranga Lions man would prefer a move across the channel to France’s Ligue 1 and tried to instigate a move to Rennes back in August.

The proposed transfer fell through but Sakho remains keen to leave the Hammers, and the Swans are hopeful they can convince the player to remain in the Premier League and help them avoid relegation.

Sakho has appeared in 14 Premier League matches this season - most of them as a substitute - and has netted two goals.

He was left out of United’s 2-1 home win over West Bromwich Albion earlier this week and it remains to be seen whether he will return to the matchday squad for tonight’s clash against Tottenham.

The Daily Star reports that West Ham are open to selling Sakho, but would prefer not to see him go to a local rival, instead favouring a deal with a foreign club.

The Hammers are hoping to recoup GBP15-million for the sale of the Senegalese international.
