In the wake of his recent move to Saudi Arabian side Al Taawoun, Emad Meteb’s switch has been hailed as a vital signing.

The club’s football director Abdallah Al-Dakhil says Meteb’s recent move to the Saudi club is a great addition.

The 34-year-old Egyptian veteran forward has joined the Saudi side on a six-month loan from Al Ahly and will play alongside his former teammate Essam El-Hadary as well as Zamalek loanee Mostafa Fathi.

“Emad Meteb is a great addition to the team and he’s a player who shares our ambitions,” Al-Dakhil told DMC Sports.

The Pharaohs international previously played in the Saudi Professional League for Ittihad during the 2008/09 season where he managed to score 10 goals in 15 league games.

“It is also an opportunity for him to be able to join the Egyptian national team squad to represent his country in the World Cup next summer, and if everything goes well, we will surely try and make his move permanent,” adds Al-Dakhil.

When asked whether they are willing to make Fathi’s move permanent, Dakhil said they haven't decided yet.

“We haven’t decided yet. It’s still too early to talk about this, but in his contract, it is clearly stated that if we pay a certain amount the player has to join us.”

Meanwhile, Al Taawoun will face Damac in the round of 32 of the King’s Cup on January 5, before facing Shikabala’s Al-Raed in the league a week later.
