Pitso Mosimane: Polokwane City were more hungry

In the wake of their defeat to Polokwane City in what was their opening game of the New Year, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane admitted that Rise and Shine wanted the three points more than his charges.

Although the Brazilians took the lead through George Lebese, City fought back through Sammy Seabi, Walter Musona and Rodney Ramagalela to claim victory in Limpopo.

Despite the defeat, the former African champions remain placed at the top of the Absa Premiership log standings with 28 points from 15 matches.

"It was two different halves in terms of opportunities. Two goals in one minute hey, it's football. They wanted it more than us. They were more hungy,” Mosimane told SuperSport TV.

“We can't complain about the break because they also had the same break. We are not yet back from the break.

"'Rama-G' (Ramagalela) will always score, he's the top scorer in the league. He will [always] get his fair chance and score.

“But if we score five in the first half he can score his goal it's okay. We are not yet back from the break. We didn't want it more than them.

Mosimane continued" "I told them at half time that I saw a game like this against Platinum Stars last year, I told them I'm happy that maybe we should learn to park the bus and take it because this kind of a game if you miss so many chances it will come back and bite you.

“Fortunately against Platinum (Stars) we scored a goal in the 84th minute. I saw it against AmaZulu we played nice and pretty football and didn't take our chances they came back to beat us irrespective of whether Siyabonga Nomvethe's goal was offside or not.

"I didn't coach at halftime I told them that this will come back and bite you. I told them that I'd be very happy even if we don't score but they [also] don't score. But it's mentality, it's attitude, they're not ready, they're not back from the break," he concluded.
