Former Al Ahly striker Emad Meteb has lashed out at the Red Devils coach Hossam El-Badry, saying it was impossible to play under him.

Meteb has joined Saudi Arabian side Al Taawoun on a six-month loan deal and says it was impossible for him to play for the Cairo giants.

Meteb left his boyhood club and brought an end to a glorious 14-year career with the Red Devils.

He spoke to Sada El Balad TV channel about losing hope to get more game time because of his poor relationship with El-Badry.

“It was impossible to play for Al Ahly as long as Hossam El-Badry was in charge,” he told the TV channel.

“It was clearly impossible for me to participate in matches.”

However, he said despite what happened during the past period he wished the coach the best of luck.

The striker will play alongside his compatriot Mostafa Fathi and will also reunite with former teammate Essam El-Hadary, who joined the club in the 2017 summer transfer window to become the first foreign goalkeeper in the Saudi Pro League.

Meteb also spoke highly of former Zamalek and new teammate Shikabala, adding that he hopes the left-footed player would join the national team during the World Cup in Russia.

“His (Shikabala) return to the national team came because of his determination and ambition,” he added.

“Of course I would like to play in the World Cup, every player would like so. I will do my best to achieve my goal and play with Egypt in Russia.”
