Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion have had a bid for Karl Toko Ekambi rejected by Angers.
The Cameroonian striker has scored nine goals in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season, despite his club being rooted in the division’s relegation zone.
According to France Football, Brighton have had a bid of GBP 12.5 million turned down by Angers, who understandably want to keep hold of their top scorer as they attempt to avoid the drop to Ligue 2.
The Seagulls reportedly tried to land Ekambi back in the European summer, even offering to quadruple the player’s wages.
With Brighton having made the first offer, it is expected that other Premier League clubs such as Everton and Swansea will test Angers’ resolve with higher bids for the 25-year-old striker.
