New Zamalek manager Ehab Galal has accepted the 3-0 against Al Ahly in the Cairo derby on Monday as his own responsibility.

Galal says he takes full responsibility for the defeat to their arch rivals, insisting that his side cannot afford to lose further points in the coming matches.

The coach was in charge of the White Knights for the first time after signing a one-and-a-half year contract with Zamalek just 48 hours ahead of the derby.

However, he had his debut spoiled by three Ahly goals that lifted the Red Devils to the summit of the Egyptian Premier League table for the first time this season.

"I told my players that I take full responsibility for the loss to Ahly and that we shouldn't lose further points in the coming matches," Galal told ON Sport TV.

"Zamalek lacked confidence against Ahly. The team needs to restore its confidence and needs much training and effort.

"I would like to thank my players for what they did in the match and we will work together to deliver results that are up to the standards of Zamalek.

"I haven't yet realised the weak and strong aspects of the team as I'm yet to see all the players. The team includes big names and we will see who we can work with in the next few matches."

The defeat leaves the Whites at number four on 28 points, 11 behind Al Ahly who have a game in hand.
