Eric Bailly remains sidelined for Manchester United after news of his need for surgery broke last month.
The Ivorian centre-back has been out of commission since United’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea in early November, and midway through December manager Jose Mourinho revealed that the player will need surgery on his troublesome ankle.
This is likely to keep the 23-year-old off the pitch until March, probably ruling him out of the Red Devils’ UEFA Champions League last 16 clashes against Sevilla on February 21 and March 13.
Meanwhile, United have begun adapting to Bailly’s absence, with Victor Lindelof settling well into the side, while Phil Jones has also struck up consistency in the heart of the backline.
Mourinho’s side has kept three successive clean sheets and will target a fourth when they host Stoke City at Old Trafford for a Premier League clash on Monday night, 15 January.
