Egyptian Premier League giants Al Ahly have been dealt a huge blow with news that defender Rami Rabia will be out for 10 weeks.

The club has announced that Rabia will be out of action due to a groin injury that requires intensive treatment.

''Rabia will be sidelined for weeks," Ahly's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz said on Sunday.

"Scans revealed that he suffers a muscle tear.”

The Pharaohs international defender recently returned after two months of absence due to a knee injury while playing with the Pharaohs in the World Cup Qualifiers against Ghana last October.

He sustained his latest injury in the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over arch-rivals Zamalek in the Cairo derby on Monday last week.

Rabia's injury increases Ahly's defensive problems as defender Mohamed Naguib is also out of action with a muscle injury.

On the other hand, Saad Samir is yet to fully recover from his injury despite his presence in the Cairo derby and the Egypt Super Cup.

Ahly will face Talae El-Gaish in a league game on Tuesday as the title holders are second in the league table with 39 points.
