South African international striker Phakamani Mahlambi has been excluded from the Al Ahly squad for the CAF Champions League.
The former Bidvest Wits attacker will not form part of the Red Devils squad for the preliminary rounds starting next month.
Coach Hossam El-Badry has registered 22 players in the team’s African squad list and has also sidelined Saleh Gomaa.
The 2017 finalists lost to Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca as they failed to lift their ninth African title after suffering a 2-1 aggregate loss.
Meanwhile, Rami Rabia is also left out due to his thigh injury which will rule him out for at least two months.
