Congolese international player Prestige Mboungou has expressed delight after winning the Man of the Match Award against Cameroon on Tuesday in the AFicna Nations Championship.
The playmaker came off the bench to clinch the accolade as he replaced Moses Nkounkou early in the game.
His attacking ability led to the Red Devils' penalty which handed Congo victory over the Indomitable Lions in their CHAN 2018, Group D opener.
“I’m happy for playing my part in the victory of my team. It was not easy for us. My performance was made possible by the collective play of the team,” he told the CAF website.
“I must admit it was a very difficult game. We tried to hold on to the scoreline because Cameroon gave us so much cause to worry.
“It’s our first game in the competition. The coach gave us instructions before the match and even at half-time, and we respected them.
“We are happy for this result but now we have to think of the next match, which will be another difficult test against Burkina Faso.”
In their second group match Congo will face Burkina Faso on Saturday at Stade Adrar in Agadir.
