Ugandan internationals Tom Masiko and Mustapha Kizza have urged their Cranes teammates to remain focused at the 2018 CAF African nations Championship tournament.
The duo was axed by coach Sebastien Desabre in his final squad ahead of the tournament in Morocco, but the players have supported the team.
Masiko and Kizza were trimmed off by Desabre after two friendly matches against Guinea and Congo that preceded the tourney in Morocco.
“The competition in the midfield was tense. I have trust in the players left in camp and I believe they can do a better job,” Masiko told Daily Monitor.
“I’m still part of the team and I hope to be back in other tournaments.
“Nothing is impossible. They can still make it through the group although the weather challenge persists.”
On the other hand, the ex-Kampala Capital City Authority midfielder remains grateful to the new coach for instilling professionalism in the side.
“He is very professional. He will come to you and tell you openly when you won’t be part of the team,” he added.
“All they should do now is to stay focused and fight harder in the remaining matches against Namibia and Ivory Coast.”
