Zimbabwe and former Ajax Cape Town defender Eric Chipeta has joined Saudi Arabians side Al-Raed FC.

Media reports in Zimbabwe reveal that Chipeta has completed his move with the Saudi side as he wants to rekindle his career.

Chipeta parted ways with the South African-based Urban Warriors in August last year and was also on the books of Chippa United in the Absa Premiership.

The 27-year-old former Hwange Colliery player was unveiled by the Saudi Arabian Pro League outfit on Friday after reportedly signing an 18-month deal with an option to renew.

Mede8 Sports Management Agency confirmed the defender’s move and congratulated him.

“Erick really wanted a move abroad, and we’re really excited for him and grateful we could assist him in making this opportunity happen for him,” reads a statement.

“He is a great player and we are looking forward to seeing him in action.”

Part of the 2017 COSAFA Cup winning squad, Chipeta has been club-hunting since his contract with the Urban Warriors was terminated through mutual consent.

The Warriors international becomes the second Zimbabwean player to join a Saudi side in less than a year after striker Tendai Ndoro, but has since joined Ajax.
