In the wake of their 2018 CAF African Nations Championship exit, Uganda coach Sebastien Desabre says they were good against Cote d’Ivoire but extremely disappointed with the draw.
The Cranes played to a dull goalless draw in Marrakech on Monday as they packed their bags to go back home to Kampala.
In their Group B assignments, the East Africans lost to Zambia and Uganda and the draw against the Elephants was not enough to secure a spot in the Last Eight.
However, the coach believes they played well against Ibrahim Kamara’s troops despite their failuire to find the back of the net.
“It was very important to leave the competition with a point. Our biggest mistake was the second game against Namibia and it really affected our chances,” said Desabre.
“We played a good game but we failed to score from the two or three chances we created. It was important to finish in third place in the group after realizing we were out of contention.
“It is big disappointment and but overall we showed great potential.
“Our objective was to play a good match and finish ahead of Cote d’Ivoire since it was not possible to finish first or second in the group.
