Ghana international Thomas Partey suffered Copa De Rey heartbreak as Atletico Madrid bowed out of the Spanish Cup competition on Tuesday evening.

Partey played no part in the club's 3-1 second leg defeat to Sevilla and was on the bench during the 2-1 loss to the same opponents in the reverse fixture, but will feel that it's a missed opportunity to grab silverware.

With Barcelona storming clear of the field in the Spanish La Liga this season, the Copa De Rey has proved a platform for other teams to strut their stuff in the past - but Atleti saw that dream come to an abrupt end.

Partey, 24, has established himself as a First Team regular this season, racking up 27 appearances across all competitions - scoring four times.

Atleti will now turn their attention back to the league while also setting their focus on the Europa League knockout stages, following a disappointing showing in the UEFA Champions League by their lofty standards.
