Vincent Aboubakar was unable to help Porto reach the next round of the Portuguese League Cup after his side were beaten on penalties by rivals Sporting CP on Wednesday night.
The teams played out a goalless draw in their clash at Estadio Municipal de Braga, before Sporting triumphed 4-3 in the post-match shootout.
Aboubakar was a second-half substitute in the match, replacing Brazilian Tiquinho in the 68th minute, but he was unable to find the back of the net up to the full-time whistle.
The Indomitable Lions attacker also missed his penalty in the shootout, as did teammates Hector Herrera and Yacine Brahimi.
Despite exiting the League Cup, this remains an exciting campaign for Porto. They are currently top of the Primeira Liga (ahead of Sporting by one point) and have a mouth-watering tie in the UEFA Champions League against Liverpool, which will begin next month.
For now, Aboubakar and his teammates will be focused on preparing for their next league clash, which will see them play away to Moreirense next Wednesday night.
