Polokwane City and AmaZulu FC drew 0-0 in an Absa Premiership match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
As a result, Rise and Shine, and Usuthu remain 12th and 13th respectively on the league table.
Usuthu did most of the attacking in the early stages of the game with Rise and Shine happy to sit back and launch quick counter-attacks.
Polokwane were keeping a close eye on AmaZulu striker Camaldine Abraw, who recently joined Usuthu during the current Transfer Window.
Rise and Shine piled pressure on the Usuthu defence with the half-time break fast approaching and Butholezwe Ncube was booked in the 43rd minute.
But AmaZulu managed to contain Polokwane until the match referee blew the half-time whistle and the score was 0-0 at half-time.
Both teams launched attacks in the opening stages of the second-half as they looked to break the deadlock.
The visitors were forced to make a change in the 66th minute after Rhulani Manzini went down injured and he was replaced by Siyabonga Nomvethe.
Manzini had been introduced just before the second-half began, but he sustained an injury after the hour-mark.
The momentum was with Polokwane in the latter stages of the tightly contested match as they searched for a late winner.
The hosts were unable to beat Siyabonga Mbatha in the AmaZulu goal and ultimately, the two sides drew 0-0.
