As they get their 2018 FIFA World Cup preparations underway, Egypt will meet Portugal in an international friendly in March.

The clash will be staged in Switzerland as the Pharaohs prepare for their first appearance at the global showpiece since 1990.

The Portuguese Football Federation has confirmed an international friendly between Portugal and the North Africans for March 23 at the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich.

Both sides have only met twice on the international scene, with the Selecao das Quinas claiming victories on both occasions in 1995 and 2005.

“The March games are already defined and we're going back to Switzerland! Portugal x Egypt, Portugal x Netherlands,” the Portuguese FA tweeted.

The Pharaohs are in Group A with hosts Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia and will begin their campaign against Uruguay at the Ekaterinburg Arena on June 15.
