Namibia coach Ricardo Mannetti has hailed his players for their efforts at the 2018 African Nations Championship.
The Brave Warriors’ participation at the finals came to an end on Saturday night when they were beaten 2-0 by hosts Morocco in the first quarterfinal, played at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
Namibia have been the surprise package at the 2018 CHAN, eliminating both Ivory Coast and Uganda to finish second in their group, before being outplayed by the Atlas Lions.
“We lost to a better team. That's the bottom line,” Mannetti told reporters in the wake of the defeat.
“I'm a happy coach. I'm not disappointed with my team. They played for the shirt. I'm proud of them. We wanted to surprise Morocco but it did not happen,” he continued.
“I have to thank them for giving all Namibians a wonderful experience by coming this far in this competition.
“I said before the match that the crowd won't be a factor. It was a tough match on the pitch. We made some mistakes which cost us the match. The crowd was not a factor. Congratulations to Morocco for the win and best of luck to them.”
