Morocco CHAN defender Jawad El Yamiq signs for Genoa

Moroccan defender Jawad El Yamiq has signed for Italian Serie A side Genoa CFC.

Lions De l’Atlas have confirmed that the 26-year-old, who is currently part of Morocco’s squad at the ongoing 2018 African Nations Championship, has put pen to paper on a contract with the Italian side.

He joins compatriot Adel Taarabt (who is on loan from Benfica) at the club, which also boasts Ghanaian midfielder Isaac Cofie.

El Yamiq signs from Moroccan powerhouses Raja Casablanca, with Genoa reportedly paying a release clause of €800,000.

The defender, who will likely feature for the Atlas Lions in their CHAN semifinal clash with Libya in Casablanca on Wednesday, has signed a deal to 2021.
