Chelsea have confirmed a loan deal for Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman, who is returning to Bundesliga side Schalke.
A statement on the Premier League champions website reads: “Baba Rahman has today [Monday] joined Schalke on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season.
“The Ghanaian defender, 23, re-joins the Bundesliga side, where he spent the first half of last season before sustaining a knee injury during the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Baba signed for Chelsea from another German side, Augsburg, in the summer of 2015 and made 23 appearances during his maiden season at Stamford Bridge.”
Rahman’s Schalke teammates Breel Embolo and Benjamin Stambouli have already expressed their delight on Instagram at having the Ghanaian back at the Veltins Arena.
Embolo posted a short video, in which he warmly welcomed the player, while Stambouli stated, "Welcome back bro.”
