News landing through from Zambia is that reigning Super League champions Zesco United have parted ways with their general secretary, Justin Mumba.
Mumba has parted ways with club treasurer, Joel Nkhata, and was widely credited for masterminding the dominance that the Team ya Ziko enjoyed in the recent times.
The club briefly announced the move, saying sponsors Zesco Limited has terminated Mumba and Nkhata’s contracts with immediate effect.
Mumba, who is currently with the team in South Africa, gave an emotional farewell to the players immediately after his sacking was made public.
According to his Facebook post, he confirmed that he has been relieved of his duties with his immediate effect.
“Just to take time to say goodbye to Zesco United football club Executive members, Sub Committee members, Secretariat staff, the Coaches Team Manager, fans and Supporters,” reads Mumba’s Facebook post.
“My appointment as General Secretary of the Club has been terminated with immediate effect. I have enjoyed my tenure and I appreciate having had an opportunity to work with you all.
”I remain thankful to Zesco Limited management for giving me an opportunity to serve as General Secretary of the club. Like I said in one of my post in December last year for sure it’s TIME.
“I have learned a lot during this period and tried my best to leave the club better than I found it. I can only wish Zesco United Football Club the very best of all. Thank you to you all for the support during my time.”
