Teko Modise wants a win against Sundowns

Cape Town City midfielder Teko Modise says Mamelodi Sundowns is a strong team ahead of their Absa Premiership clash on Friday night.

The Citizens will want to keep their winning run intact when they meet the Brazilians at home at Athlone Stadium.

Sundowns are yet to beat the Mother City after three meetings in the league and the ‘General’ says the game is very important.

“It is a very important game, they are on top of the log and we are a few points behind,” said Modise.

“The aim and ambition is to try and minimise the points between (us and) the first position, that’s why it is going to be important for us to get a good result against Sundowns even though we know the qualities that they have and they are such a good team.

“We are also a very good team with so much ambition but on the day, whoever wants it more will win the game.

“We are playing very well but one thing that is disappointing is that we are not scoring as many goals as we are supposed to and hopefully on the day we can cause an upset.”

Benni McCarthy’s men are out to close the gap on the log leaders, whilst Pitso Mosimane wants to extend their four point lead at the summit.

Athlone Stadium is the venue on Friday night at 20:00 (CAT).
