Kaizer Chiefs were held by Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership when the two sides drew 1-1 on Saturday evening at Bidvest Stadium.

Ryan Moon netted for the Soweto giants as the stalemate sees them sitting at third spot with 31 points from 20 matches.

On the part of the hosts, Lehlohonolo Majoro found the back of the net as he equalised in the second half.

In the opening 10 minutes, the Clever Boys had an upper hand on the ball, but could not cause trouble for Itumeleng Khune.

As they continued to dominate in the heart of the park, Edwin Gyimah saw his long range effort swallowed by Khune in the 25th minute.

After the half-hour mark, Kgotso Moleko also attempted to beat Darren Keet from range only to see his well-drilled effort sailing wide.

Wits continued to pile pressure on Amakhosi, but it was Moon who broke the deadlock in the 40th minute, against the run of play, as he superbly headed Siphiwe Tshabalala’s fine cross from the left wing.

Steve Komphela’s men went to the tunnel leading 1-0.

Five minutes into the second half, James Keene missed a glorious opportunity to level the matters when he beat Erick Mathoho in the box, but his effort went inches wide with Khune beaten.

However, in the 54th minute Majoro equalised when he converted Sifiso Hlanti’s cross from the left flank to beat Khune on his near post.

Siphelele Ntshangase and Leonardo Castro’s introduction boosted the visitors into the final third, yet they could not beat the hosts’ defence.

It was an end-to-end affair in the last ten minutes, but neither side could score as they walked away with a point apiece.

Gavin Hunt's men now sit at number 13 on the log standings with 22 points from 20 league games.
