Orlando Pirates beat Maritzburg United 2-1 in an Absa Premiership match at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
As a result, the Buccaneers move to second spot on the league standings, while the Team of Choice remain sixth on the table.
The Team of Choice managed to contain the Buccaneers, who were doing most of the attacking, in the first 20 minutes of the game.
However, Pirates broke the deadlock in the 30th minute when Thabiso Kutumela scored with a well-taken free-kick.
It was nearly 2-0 to Soweto giants a few minutes later, but this time Kutumela was denied by Maritzburg goalkeeper Richard Ofori.
Maritzburg tried to level matters, but Pirates stood firm at the back with Happy Jele marshalling the defence.
Pirates were leading 1-0 against Arrows thanks to Kutumela's goal.
The home side extended their lead six minutes after the restart and it was Happy Jele, whoe scored with a header to make it 2-0 to Pirates.
However, Siyanda Xulu pulled one back for Maritzburg in the 73rd minute - silencing the Pirates fans inside Orlando Stadium.
Maritzburg dominated the remaining of the game, but Pirates stood firm at the back and they ran out 2-1 winners at home.
