Algerian striker Islam Slimani has revealed that he had other offers in the January transfer window, before deciding to join Newcastle United.
The Fennex Foxes attacker joined the Magpies on loan for the rest of the season from Leicester City, but also had offers on the table from Monaco and West Ham United.
He said: “It's true that there were a lot of clubs that were interested in me.
“But knowing the power of the fans and the crowd here, and how great they are, and also speaking to the manager, it gave me the confidence to know that this was the right choice.
“Rafa Benitez is a big coach with a great reputation so him calling me and him being here had a big effect on my choice."
Slimani missed out on making his Newcastle debut in their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday, but Benitez is hopeful the Algerian will play against Manchester United this coming weekend.
