Jamal Sellami says his side’s 2018 African Nations Championship triumph is “a victory for all Morocco”.
Sellami guided the Atlas Lions to CHAN glory on home soil, with the North African handing 10-man Nigeria a 4-0 thrashing in the final on Sunday night.
The result secured their first CHAN title, as they joined DR Congo, Tunisia and Libya as winners of the continental competition.
“It's a victory for all of Morocco. For all those who have accompanied us during these last months. The coach of the A [team], Hervé Renard, the federation, the supporters, it is a victory for them,” Sellami exclaimed after the victory.
The coach also gave his view on the match, explaining that Nigeria were dangerous on the counter attack in the first half, but once they were reduced to 10 men his side enjoyed greater control.
“I think Nigeria made a good first half with counter attacks. They worried us, but the goal scored before the break hurt them a lot,” said the Atlas Lions tactician.
“And when they came back from the locker room, the red card helped us. We had better control of the game and the goals came.
“I am very happy with the players who gave the best of themselves for this rite,” concluded Sellami.
