The scheduled start of the new Ghana Premier League season has been cancelled due to a court injunction filed by Great Olympics.
An emergency meeting of the Premier League Board was held on Monday and they have decided to scrap plans to kick-off the 2018 season this coming weekend.
This comes after Great Olympics served the Ghana FA with an injunction letter, protesting the alleged use of an ineligible player by Bechem United in a match between the teams last season.
"We have served the GFA general secretary, Ike Addo with a motion on notice from court," Great Olympics CEO Commodore Oloboi told Happy FM, as quoted by Ghanasoccernet.
Olympics were relegated from the GPL at the end of last season, after finishing second-last on the 16-team log.
However, their court battle could see them reinstated into the top flight, which would mean the new GPL season would have to be completely reorganised.
