Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama says his superb goal against Liverpool has proven to his teammates that his shooting can be deadly.

The Kenyan scored a screamer for Spurs in their 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Sunday, firing a swerving, long-range effort beyond the reach of goalkeeper Loris Karius.

And he admits to being happy that his strike proved a point to his teammates.

"I've had a couple of shots when I've come on [in recent matches] and the lads haven't been happy with me and said I should stop shooting," he explained.

"I said 'I will continue shooting and one day, one will end up in the back of the net'. That day was today. I'm really glad."

Wanyama has missed much of the season due to injury but will hope to feature again for Spurs when they host Newport County in a replay of their FA Cup tie tomorrow night.
